Interlacings through sunflowers

Series Four, known as “Sunflowers,” extends the research begun with Landscape 3, but focuses the motif around a single, radiant form—turned toward the light. These works, painted outdoors and on site, are in no way still lifes: they do not depict objects, but presences. The sunflower appears as a standing figure, exposed and animated.
